HOLI - THE FESTIVAL OF COLORS

HOLI - THEN & NOW

Today whole nation celebrated the festival of colors i.e. HOLI .  Despite of having alert of Coronavirus (COVID-19) across the nation, everyone celebrated the festival without any fear. I hope everyone will remain unaffected from this novel virus and will continue to enjoy every moment. One thing that I noticed today was the brotherhood and love among citizen of our country. Although our country is going through a tough phase right now because of NRC, CAA and  various protects across nation . But the scenario and atmosphere that has been seen today across the country proves that no matter how bad the political situation is or how badly one tries to spread rumors in order to break the bond of brotherhood among us no one will ever succeed. India is always united as ONE irrespective of cast, religion, language, culture. "UNITY IN DIVERSITY"  also support the above stated scenario.

Today when I was roaming across the street everyone was busy in celebrating the festival of colors in there own way. But one this I noticed was that the way we celebrate our festival has totally changed.

remember how the holi was celebrated when I was kid. I still remember how people of different age group form a group to celebrate this. All children of nearby area come together form a group and visit each spot of their locality in order to celebrate holi. There was no bound for them to whom they will sprinkle the color and no one take this as wrong.Everyone enjoy playing colors with children. The elder people of society gather together prepare special meal on the occasion of Holi, meal include MALPUA , DAHI-WADA, MUTTON , GUJIYAA etc. , and the call near and dear for lunch . Then the used to play the songs of old bollywood movies related to holi especially HOLI KHELE RAGHVEERA AWADH ME song and celebrate the festival of joy. After having lunch everyone takes bath and wear traditional KURTA PAJAMA. Evening time for gulaal. Every individual after wearing traditional attire start visiting all the house in village and greet the elders by putting gulaal of their feet and talking their blessings. Elder shows their love and affection towards younger one by putting gulaal around their cheeks and neck. A group of people visit each and every house of village and sing local folk song on the occasion of holi.

The way we celebrate holi today is totally changed. The charm and shine that was seen during previous days are missing today. Everyone is busy in their own life. The way we show love and affection is also changing. Nowadays it has become fashion of drinking alcohol on occasion like this. Due to drink and drive each year various accident are reported in our country. The song that we used to play is also changed, songs are also becoming vulgur now. Now it is more about eating and drinking rather than gathering together and enjoying the festive season.

In my opinion the Holi that was celebrated in earlier day was best.
